Warn 12000 Winch

For those who are serious about vehicle recovery and want a winch that can extract their fully loaded Rover (or someone else’s) from even the nastiest of situations, the Warn 12000 is an excellent choice. The Warn 12000 runs off of 12V DC current and features a 4.6 horsepower motor and a no-load retrieval speed of 30 feet per second, as well as a 3-stage planetary gear reduction to produce a gear ration of 261:1.

The Warn 12000 will fit the Discovery and Range Rover ARB Bull Bars with no modifcations needed. Though one should make sure that the bull bar will not pivot up or down into the body during winching.

To date we have had no problems with this winch’s ability to pull. We have not been able to stall the winch, or make it so much as flinch. To date it has proven to be a very solid and reliable tool for vehicle recovery on the trail.

For those wanting to run a Warn 12000 or any winch for that matter, the power source is critical to your winches performance. We recommend at the absolute minimum for light-duty winching with no auxiliary electronics, an Optima Red-Top battery, and for those who also run auxiliary lighting and such, to run a dual battery setup using Optima-Yellow in conjunction to the Red-Top.
