Interco
Super Swamper LTB
The Super Swamper LTB is Interco’s
slightly more aggressive line, offered in sizes not available as TSL’s.
These tires feature slightly larger more aggressive outer lugs, and a
strong bias ply construction. Make no mistake these tires are intended
for hard, low-pressure off-road use and abuse, and are by no means a street
tire.

The road performance of the LTB leaves something
to be desired, as due to their bias ply construction, they will flat spot
if left to sit, and do not track as well as would desire for road and
highway driving, not to mention they are very loud, give off a fair amount
of vibration and wear VERY quickly. After just 1000 miles, wear on these
tires was readily apparent, and we would be shocked if anyone could get
more than 10,000 miles on a set of LTB’s that sees road use.

When fitting the Super Swamper LTB's to
the Range Rover, we had to trim the fender to make up for the larger tire
radius, and the much greater width and lesser backspacing of the Gulf
Coast Rovers modular steel wheels.

Off-road these tires work well. The thick sidewall
is resistant to tears and cuts, and allows the drive to air down to lower
pressures. When the tire is aired down it expands outward, and acts almost
as a tank tread. The soft rubber compound grips rocks and roots quite
well, and the very large voids between the lugs do an excellent job of
self-cleaning. The extra width and offset of the wheels were also very
nice to have in off-camber situations providing a wider track and more
stability.

Sorry we are to report we didn’t test
these tires longer, but they were not the best choice at the time for
the particular test vehicle. Make no mistake the LTB is a great off-road
tire, but that is all it is and all it was designed for, so if you were
planning to do any kind of driving other than off-road, it would be difficult
for us to recommend this tire.
