| Rock Crawler Update!
|
|
Well the Discovery is out of the shop for now. The property the shop was on is being sold, so everything had to be cleared out, and the Discovery came home. There is still some finish work to be done, and I'm STILL waiting on some parts to arrive (7 weeks late), but I hope to have it trail ready soon enough, preferably by my birthday Tellico run in October, but we'll see.

The final wheel base is 112" and the total height, to the top of the factory rack is about 86," while the total track width is also 86." Anyone who's been around Rovers, and Discoveries in particular knows that 86" is about the height for a Disco with 3" of lift and 33" tires...So yea... it sits low.
If any companies are interested in featuring their products on this build, please contact me via e-mail here on the site.

| Latest Update
|
It has been quite a while since my last update, and right now I'm getting caught up on making updates to the site. I've been very busy as of late with design projects and labs as I work toward my December '06 graduation and the completion of my Mechanical Engineering degree.
Even though I've been busy with school work, I have found the time to take on some other projects... and with that I would like to announce the Land Rover Discovery Rock Crawler Project currently under way. The goal of this project has been to build a Rover capable of running the most difficult trails around, which still being able to see some road time. I'll post some pictures in the next couple days, but for a teaser I'll post some specs on the build. I plan to have the build completed, or at least wheelable this summer. Sponsership offers are also welcome for those companies interested in participating in the build.
Land Rover Discovery Rock Crawler Specs: - Dana 60 and Dana 70 axles - Sway-A-Way coilover shocks - 4-link suspension - Wheelbase stretch - 39.5" Tires - Double Beadlock Wheels - Hydro-assist Steering
That's it for tonight's update. Stay tuned for pictures of the Discovery build-up!

| Quick Update
|
I uploaded some new photos to the server, and I have setup a new photo gallery for RoverUnited. This will help me keep everything streamlined, organized, and much easier to maintain. Also, for those who keep asking, there are lots of new pictures of the Discovery Truggy, so go check those out! If you look around enough, you might even catch a glimpse of what is to come with our next build-up... and it's gonna be a good one.
